As an outdoor writer for 20 years, I set out to return American outdoor writing to its storied past of wilderness and native Americans and away from profit-dominated technology. In doing so, I researched aspects of nature rooted deep in our heritage. The places I hike to uncover this nature lore became Virgin Pines Press guidebooks. Virgin Pines Press looks to untouched and secret places and the ideas they hold. Nothing in a VP book is secondhand. We talk to native Americans personally about nature, not just talk about them. We don't repeat what others have written about foxfire or ginseng or bear trails, but speak from years of seeing foxfire. Virgin Pines is located just 65 miles from Shenandoah National Park, 20 from both Harpers Ferry and Catoctin National Parks. In addition to the Blue Ridges and Catoctins, Pennsylvania's Alleghenies lie only 60 miles away. Our location in growing Frederick, Maryland makes it easy to provide instant shipping and handling. |
